Each group in the procession represents a different period of time of Kyoto.

The Jidai Matsuri Festival is one of the three biggest festivals of Kyoto.
The procession will show 8 different eras based on 20 groups.
Altogether, about 2,000 people join the procession.
Kenrai-mon Gate at Kyoto Imperial Palace (12:00), Karasuma Marutamachi (12:30), Karasuma Oike (12:50), Kawaramachi Sanjo (13:30), Heian-jingu Shrine (14:30).

Note: this event will be postponed on the next day in the case of rain. Kyoto Imperial Palace: subway Karasuma line, Marutamachi Sta., Oike Street: subway Karasuma or Tozai line, Karasuma Oike Sta., Heian-jingu Shrine: subway Tozai line, Higashiyama Sta.
